Another spectacle from Damien Chazelle.First Man is a 2018 American biographical drama film. Based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen. From Extremely close up shots, Chazelle manages to capture every essence of space and characters because fortunately, this isn’t just a film about moon landing, it’s a film about Neil Armstrong. On a technical level, First Man shines gloriously as it has some of the best handheld shots and cinematography. From the opening scene, Chazelle makes you believe that you’re going to be on an epic journey. Characterization, in my opinion is pithch perfect and makes the best use of its slow pacing and star strudded cast. That said, First Man is as high on the mind as it is on the heart, it makes you face enough challenges to believe that the landing wasn’t easy at all, at a point of time I had given up the fact that the landing ever happened.
